These stamps depict the US attack on Tripoli, Libya by US bombers. The attack was on Gaddafi's compound in retaliation of the bombing of an airliner over Scotland. Some Libyan merchants made a game out of selling these stamps to American tourists in return for US dollars. Everyone knew these stamps political. The fact that we were able to be in Libya and to buy them was a hopeful sign that the attack depicted and the actions that led to the attack are a thing of the past ... we hope!
